On the day before Thanksgiving—a moment when many of us pause to appreciate what we have—we also invite you to reflect on something deeper: gratitude and hardship can coexist. Even when we feel thankful, we can’t ignore that so many in this country are still struggling. If America is ever going to truly live up to its promise, we have to acknowledge our past and work toward a future where everyone has equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal dignity.

That’s why, to us, the slogan “Make America Great Again” rings hollow (pardon our language, but… it’s kind of BS). For far too many people, America has never been truly great. A genuinely great nation would have passed the Equal Rights Amendment decades ago!

But here’s the hopeful part: there are real, meaningful things we can all do to make this country better. Here's a list of steps people can take to help move America forward.

And one last note—this time of year, everyone’s inbox and mailbox is overflowing with ads urging them to buy things they don’t actually need. (Seriously, how much do we really need?)
