In response to political pressure, censorship, and growing threats to academic freedom, faculty, students, and entire institutions—including Harvard—are standing together. Not just to protect their own rights, but to defend the very idea that universities should be places of inquiry, expression, and growth.

This isn't just a campus story. It’s a bigger one. It’s about how hope and courage can spread—person to person, institution to institution—until they begin to shift the cultural climate itself. Faculty at Harvard have now formed a new council, determined to safeguard academic freedom, student expression, and the integrity of scholarship. They're not alone. Similar movements are emerging at other universities—places where people are realizing that staying silent only feeds the chill.

That’s the thing about hope. It doesn’t need permission. It only needs someone to go first. Courage, too, multiplies in the open.

In times like these, when the loudest voices try to make us feel small or afraid, it’s easy to think we’re alone. But we’re not. Whether it's students demanding dignity, professors defending principles, or artists and makers like you pushing for truth and joy in your work—these actions ripple. They remind us that resistance is a form of care. That to speak out is to believe that a better future is possible.
