No Kings Day: A Protest, A Statement, and a Warning
October 18th marked another No Kings Day protest — another day for Americans to remind ourselves what our founding principles are actually about: liberty, equality, and accountability. Not crowns. Not cults of personality. Not kings.

Across the country, people came together in towns big and small to protest the increasing authoritarian tone in our politics, the ever-tightening grip of Trump over the Republican Party, and the deep divisions in our government and problems in our healthcare systems that seem to widen by the week. The message was simple: America doesn’t bow to tyrants.

In Woodinville, Washington, the crowd was smaller than in the big cities, but the energy was pure democracy — raw, defiant, and a little weird in the best Pacific Northwest way. I, Peter wore my “No Kings” t-shirt from MerchMuse, a simple but powerful design that felt like armor for the day. Beside me was my girlfriend, who managed to energize the protesters by showing up in a full T-Rex costume holding a hand-painted sign that read “T-Rex Against Tyranny.” The crowd loved her, parents wanted to take pictures with their kids with her.

But the laughter turned to shock when, across social media, Trump’s campaign team posted one of his signature “macho” videos — this time showing an AI generated video of Trump in a Top Gun fighter jet bombing protesters with brown sludge that appeared to be diarrhea. Yes, really. That’s where we’re at.

|
It wasn’t funny. It was grotesque — a perfect metaphor for how he’s defiled civic discourse and made cruelty his brand. Yet it also showed how terrified he is of Americans who refuse to kneel. As Americans speek and act out against Trump's policies.

|
|
Because despite all the noise — the chaos in government, the rising cost of healthcare, the endless distractions — people are paying attention. They’re showing up. They’re saying “No” to fear and “No” to any man who would crown himself king.
|
|
No Kings Day wasn’t just about one protest or one politician. The No Kings movement is about remembering that democracy belongs to all of us and dies if we stop participating!
|
And judging by the dinosaurs, artists, teachers, nurses, veterans, and everyday people who showed up across the country — democracy still is alive but being challenged.
|
|
